coral beauty is nibbling on my corals..

What kind of corals, and is it eating them or just nipping? Increased feeding sometimes helps, more times per day and/or algae available all day. Also, new angels often "sample" stuff in a tank at first to find out if it's good to eat. I had a bicolor blenny that did the same thing -- one bite out of every coral in the tank in the first couple of weeks, then never touched them again.

I have a flame angel in my reef right now. Had a Coral Beauty in my 60g reef. Both literally were angels when it came to not nipping at my corals.

I try to keep a rolled up piece of nori rubberbanded to a rock for my flame angel....gives him something to pick at all day, otherwise I notice him nibbling on my acros. I've had him for almost a year now....first sign of damage and out he comes!!!

I agree with r33fer, definitely hit or miss...I once had a coral beauty who was a model reef citizen.

If you decide to get rid of him, let me know. I am planing on an a lagoonal dwarf angel (flame/coral beauty/golden) for the seagrass tank and an acro-nipper wouldn't be an issue at all for me.

Will do, he's definitely a fish I have to keep an eye on. Some days he's a model citizen, other days I'm not so sure....my luck to have a schizo angel.:D

Hey, I have A. flavissimus, why not C. flavissimus, too? How's it misbehaving, Shane?

And the usual:
How long have you had it?
What/how is it eating?
Current tank size?
Behavior towards tank mates -- any chasing or territorial behavior?

It is a perfect gentleman except he munches on my SPS polyps.

I have had it for 3 months now
It is eating algae from live rock, prime reef flakes, and SPS polyps
Current Tank size 135
Behaves very well with other tank mates.

I'll take him, Shane, but I need a little time to get a QT ready for him that he'll be comfortable in.

I suggest you start feeding him from a fish trap or the inside of a big plastic bag until he isn't scared of it anymore. Then when the time comes, he can be snatched up.

Why yoos 'al gotta be dissin' the fishies anyway???:fish2: :sad1:
Dat coral wus prubub'ily askin' for it!!!:uzi: :furious: :hammer:

I know coral beauties are all different. Mine is great. Knock, knock, knock. I feed alot. 3x a day atleast. Mine picked at some zoo's when I first put them in there but then left them alone and hasn't touched anything since. What do you feed and how often?
