Coral Beauty white blotches on face?

My Coral Beauty is looking and acting ill and just noticed some white blotches on its face. Fins are a little ragged up too. Any idea what this could be and what could treat it?

He has been in my 75g QT for almost 3 months now. I started copper treatment (<.5ppm) for the last 4 weeks. There are/were also 6 Chromus in with him, but one died yesterday... didn't have the blotches though.

Kinda looks like the beginnings of HLLE. But the ragged fins makes me also think bacterial infection.

Vita-chem soaked pellet foods ,,i like hikari pellets ,they soak it up really well ..
He should be fine ,HLLE is not a death sentence

It might be due to stress (from being in a qt tank or copper). I know some angel fish that get blotches when scared or stressed. Maybe try lowering the copper level. 4 weeks of copper is rough on them. With angels i usually like to keep the level at .35. Also what are your water parameters. Could be a water quality issue.

I agree. Being in copper too long can have a negative effect on fish. If hes been in there for a month and no illness has surfaced, then there isnt one I would say.

I do agree that fish get stress spots and blotches from QTing and treating, but this fish appears to have actual erosion of the skin
