Coral Buy For Raffle?

Are we going to do a coral buy for the Raffle this Saturday. We have just over $500 and we should buy some corals.

Also please be generous in bringing Corals to the raffle going forward. We are not getting the participation we once did. Every member should bring corals to the raffle when attending, unless there's something going wrong with corals in your tank and you don't want to spread the unwanted pests.

Maybe not getting the participants because we get nothing for the corals we bring!! No extra raffle tickets, no type of incentive beside to share and to generate more cash for the club to buy more corals. It really bugs me having to be reminded to bring corals. I wont be coming to this meet. Really need to rethink how club operates in my opinion.

Thanks for your input, Robert. Sorry you won't make it to the meet Saturday.

I welcome suggestions for improvements.

The structure we've had since I've been in the club (about 3 yrs) has worked well for such a loose, relaxed group. We really have only had issues at the last two meets. The first we bought too many corals considering the usual attendance. The last meet there was a really low turnout. I don't know why, but with only 25 or so usually coming, it doesn't take many no-shows to put us in the hole, raffle wise.

Some suggestions i have are maybe get a raffle ticket for each frag brought. person that brings the most frags gets the first pick, something to reward the people that have brought stuff. Plus be nice to do a diy project with group (alage scrubber, diy led kit, fish food pty, diy rock, how to drill a tank). Some type of field trip would be cool. Kessil i know offers a tour, California Academy of sciences offered tour to B.A.R. don't see why we couldn't go. A club tank would be cool. I would offer space at my shop for a club tank if got help with the cost of running tank and some help keeping clean. Then can grow stuff out to hand out every few months to the people that bring stuff to the meetings or whatever was decided.

turn out could be low due to no real structure and tired of just meet n greet style. If actually educated people may get more interest. The relaxed structure seems to be hurting more lately.

I personally don't have an issue with how the club operates but.I like some of Roberts suggestions with the diy and maybe some tours be cool to change it up.

those are great ideas. We have done a tour of CA Acadamy right after it reopened. I just bought Grant's frag tank with the thought of a club frag setup.

Robert why don't you organize a field trip for the club or a demo? If you want to make a change to the raffle I'm ok with it you just need to consult the other board members for their ok. Maybe you should become a board member and help run the club and make some of the decisions. That would be great!
