Corals Dip for Unwanted pests (Bayer Method)
For every half gallon of saltwater use a half cup of Bayer or (1 gallon of saltwater to 1 cup of Bayer)

Before you begin!!!********
Disclaimer: My disclaimer here is that I do believe this method to work very well and VERY SAFE, I can not be held liable for any damages to yourself or anyone else, your equipment, your system or anything else by following this guide. In other words, use this process at your own risk.

Things you'll Need to complete your Dip
"ยข BAYER $13 at Home Depot
* 3 containers for the water (bigger containers if you're dipping bigger corals or bigger amounts).
* Gloves (Always wear gloves, safety first, then team work)!
* Eye protection. (Safety First, then team work lol)
* Measuring cup
* Make sure temperature is the same as your tank.
* Turkey baster if you're using small containers, or powerheads if working with more).
* Display tank water or premixed saltwater if working with more corals (mixed to the same salinity as your display tank).

Bayer dip can be used on SPS, LPS, soft corals and almost all corals. Bayer is not meant for inverts and you do NOT want to dose this in your DISPLAY TANK EVER!

I would strongly recommend wearing gloves and probably eye protection. The standard dose is 10 ml's of Bayer Advanced Complete Insect Killer (for soil & turf Concentrate) to the 4 ounces of water. It's best to remove SPS and LPS corals from the frag plugs before dipping then if you want them on plugs remounting them on new clean plugs after the dip.

How long should the corals be in the dip?

How long should you wait for eggs to hatch and another dip?

Sorry if this was answered on the video-I can't see it on my computer.

This is the only Bayer you should use...
The dose that I used is the correct dose for the amount of water I used.
Thanks

Tagging along......
Same questions as salty joe....
Thanks.

It's ok.

STEP 1: You dip your corals for 15 min in the Bayer dip. Remove any frag plugs prior to dip.
STEP 2: After 15 min remove frags and place them in a container with fresh SALTWATER with NO Bayer
STEP 3: Repeat step 2 again. This just makes sure all the Bayer dip has been diluted and removed from the frags.
STEP 4: Ready to be placed in your display.

If you're worried about eggs get a cheap tooth brush to use to comb through the corals as they are being dipped. I stress you should be using gloves + eye protection.

+1 it's also stated in my original post to wear gloves. Also in the description of my video. But yes WEAR GLOVES And EYE PROTECTION!!!

Thanks Isaacs55. Appreciate the thread. Now to find the Bayer. Local HD doesn't have it yet. Will have to try local Agway. New acros coming on Tuesday.

Don't know if you have Lowes, local to you, but that is where I found it.

Yeah, that's usually my go to. Tried ordering 2 bottles through Amazon before Christmas. Had a bad experience with the ccompany I tried to get it from. It wasn't Amazon directly. Anyway after a couple of weeks they refunded my order and I went through eBay and got it without a problem.

Not for sale on Long Island. Had to order it online. Thanks.

technically not legal in NY so be careful.

And to add to the dipping procedure add in a dip in peroxide before the final rinse. Bayer kills the bugs, toothbrush before and after dip helps with potential eggs, and peroxide gets the algae. Win, win win...
