what would you advise to use to dip new sps corals in before I add them to my tank? Also I need to replace bulbs in my 300 and any advise there? I run three 400 watt single mh

thanks as always

Hi,

I would recommend either Seachem Reef dip at
http://www.premiumaquatics.com/Merc...een=PROD&Product_Code=SEA-RDIP&Category_Code=

Or using Lugols solution and making your own basically. Maybe quart of your tank water mixed in with 10 drops of lugols and soak 10 minutes then discard the dip water.

On your bulbs, do you have any actinics or halide only? 10K or higher is going to keep your corals healthy, after that is more for human looks and growth you want. The higher the K, the more blue you get, but also slows down growth, although sometimes you get more intense colors with higher K bulbs.

I like for halide only, the 14K hamilton or 20K Icecap, far as looks goes. If you had 2 or 4 VHO or T5 actinics though, a 10K Ushio, or 14K Megachrome (there bulb is white, not blue like other 14ks').

I run mh only.does the dip in the link work aainst flatworms as well?I don`t want to take a chance in getting any from anyone
thank

I don't think the iodine would kill the flat worms, maybe make them mad enough to let loose the coral. It's mainly used to take care of any bacterial infections etc.

For flatworms, you might want to use something like Salifert Flat worm.
