Coral for spring growing contest?

I think I have a good coral for the next SLASH growing contest.

Here's a bad pic of the mother colony:

And here's the reason I think this would be a good choice:

I noticed this new self fragged colony about a month ago. I had the mother colony sitting against that rock for awhile and evidently it started encrusting.

I don't have an SPS dominated tank with a calcium reactor, kalk drip, etc. My tank parameters probably aren't even right. My lighting is a RB Photon 48, so nothing fancy.

All that to say this is a super easy coral to grow.

It's not a pretty purple or red or blue, but the shape of this thing is fantastic.

Let me know what you guys think.

I think it's a pavona. The guy I got it from said it just started growing in his tank one day. He never bought it, so I would assume it came in on another frag or there was a tiny piece of it on a rock he got.

I've found two different versions of pavonas available for sale. I think this one is Pavona frondifera. The other one is Pavona decussatus. The biggest difference is that the frondifera has a much thinner structure.

ORA has been propagating the frondifera variety. According to their website, they acquired theirs from Julian Sprung.
