Here is a GREAT thread, with some great comments from DZHUO on SPS corals and why they can be so difficult.

I hope that helps and I would really recommend that you read all of the STICKY posts in the 'New to the Hobby' forum. Even though you said youve been in the tank a while, we are all always learning i nthis hobby and the information in there will keep you reading for weeks.

does your water temp flucuate? for sps's even a 2 degrees or more can spell death. Did you acclimate it via slow drip? Are the other corals sps or lps? The softies are much more forgiving to flucuations in water temps. MAke sure you have accurate thermometers in your tank and at least two of them. I set one high and one low. Also you may want to place one in your resevoir to keep an eye on that prioir to doing a water change, believe it or not if you have a powerhead in there circulating the water it can heat that water.

i respectfully disagree with the temp. statement, my tank will fluctuate 4-6 degrees on some days & my sps are thriving, calcium & magnesium levels are critical for these corals also make sure they are not being contacted by any other lps or soft coral, especially at night with the sweeper tentacles.
