coral growth difference

What would cause a coral to grow really well on one side of the colony and no growth on the other side? I have a small colony of pinky the bear that is growing like crazy on one side of it and not growing at all on the other side. The part that is growing is growth from the base. I run diy leds so I am thinking maybe I am getting some spotlighting with the leds and the two halves are getting different lighting. Any ideas?

Could be your flow....if it is really strong one way can push the growth to one side....seems more like it is growing more to the side where stronger light would be...
