coral growth pictures

I was wondering if someone had some pictures to compare how long it takes sps corals to grown... I know a very general question but maybe 4 or 5 pictures of an acro at say 6 months, 1 year, etc, you get the point. I couldn't really find any good pictures by searching coral growth.

I have been purchasing quite a few sticks and wondering what they could turn out to look like. For example something like this:

Yellow Acro will it get a wider base and grow longer and then branch or will all the branches come from the base? Or will light and flow dictate how it will grow so much that we have no idea?

Another one is a simple monti cap like this:

I thought it would start growing up but it seems to instead attached itself to the rock. How will it plate? How do people get multiple layers? Does it just do that on its own or are pieces fragged off and added under or above?

These are certainly not important questions and obviously in a year I will have my answer just wondering if someone wouldn't mind posting some of their experiences with SPS. Thanks

That cap will encrust then grow out and up. It will most likely take over that entire rock shading out the acro frags. You may want to consider moving the frags away from it.

Excellent point. Thanks - I will be prepared for making the changes as soon as I see shading.

Wazzel - Wow that last picture is great. Love the color. I am starting to understand. My idea what to let nature run its course and the strong will survive.... but is that a bad thing? Should I move/remove what isn't my favorite now? Any issue letting them mix?

Depends on what you want. I prefer fewer bigger colonies. By letting nature take its course some will win and some will loose. It is kind of a waste of money to buy things you know will die. When you pack things in you do not get to see the coral develop in to a nice colony.
