I have had this about a year it is a really slow grower. It is kind of a lavender purple base with xenia or kenya tree type polyps. When i first saw it i thought is was an sps, but once they took it out of the tank it is a soft coral, they gave it to me for free when i bought 2 other corals. A very reputable LFS owner/ Marine Biologist did not know what it was so i figured i would post it on the net and get an answer.

Pseudoplexaura spp. (Porous Sea Rods) The genus may be identified by the fact that oval or round openings can be seen as pores when the polyps are retracted, as there are no protruding calyces. "The Modern Coral Reef Aquarium Vol 2 pg 207."
