Coral Identification

Can someone(s) help me make sure I have the first 2 corals correctly identified and can someone(s) tell me what they think the third coral is? Thanks in advance for your help.

Finger Leather?

Colt Coral?

Unidentified?

The first one looks like a mumps leather. Needs to be clearer though

The third one looks like a pagoda coral to me. Tubinaria peltata i think?

I'd say that the first is Finger Leather.

The second....I'd have to say Cladiella.

The third is, as simion says, Pagoda Coral (Tubinaria peltata.) Make sure there's some water flow moving the polyps on it.

Thanks for the id help. I have a power head right above the pagoda. It should be moving quite a bit of water. I may change out for Seio's in the next week or so. Two questions:

1. I dose phytoplankton every couple of days and feed the tank zooplankton and frozen brine shrimp daily. Is that about right for these creatures?

2. On a side note, any thoughts on the light layer of green algae? All the parameters look okay (nitrate, nitrite, alk, ph, and ammonia).

As for the powerhead, jdm01, a Seio will give you a much better kind of water movement than a normal powerhead. I have my three Pagodas near a Seio 1100 and a MJ1200 with a Hydor flo deflector and watching the polyps on the Pagodas tells me that it's a good idea to do both of those. You wouldn't be sorry.

For the three corals that you have...if that's it right now...I think you may be putting a bit more for feeding into the tank than you need to. Cutting off the flow in the tank, and feeding the way you do would be adequate for sure. So, cut down on those feedings and you should see the green micro-algae recede fairly quickly.

Avi, I have a couple of other corals, 5 chromis, and a six line wrasse in the tank. I am trying to add a coral or two each week into a 90 gallon drilled corner flow tank. I will post a picture of the complete tank here in a little bit. Should I remove all three of the Rio's and replace with 1 Seio and 1 MJ 1200? Also, should I leave the 2 Rio 600's pointing behind the rockwork to keep the water moving? Placement wise, what is your recommendation for the Seio and the MJ?

I have added three or four corals over the past couple of weeks. I need help identifying a couple of them. Could someone help id the first two (unfortunately the pictures are a little fuzzy - I am still working on the photography aspect of reefing). I have included a full tank shot as of today just for fun.

1st is a brain or candy cane hard to tell. lps
2nd looks like a red shroom softie but can't tell for sure

....Just got back from a vacation. I have to agree with SVXH6....that first photo is Blasomussa. Also about the red mushroom. I have a bunch of Blastos and they're really beautiful coral and they will take target feedings. I recommend that because it will make them grow much more readily and the bigger they get, the more beautiful they get.

Your tank's looking really fine, by the way.

I chop of mysis shrimp with a razor blade (be careful.) I turn off all of the flow in the tank and then use a turkey baster to put the chopped mysis onto the Blastos. The pieces should be pretty small so that they can ingest it.

Here are three corals I have added lately. I think I know what 2 of the 3 are, but would like some clarification. Please let me know what you think. Again, help classifying as soft, lps, etc... is appreciated.

One thing I noticed, and I don't know if you still have them that way, is the SEIOs. You would get better flow if you took off the end pieces, that changes the direction of the flow.

Back to the flow question of earlier. I have 2 ea. Seio 1100 in my tank. One on either end pointing at each other. They mounted to magnets so I can easily move them around to alter the flow of the water. In addition I have 2 ea. MJ 1200 pointing to the back of the rock work and they are on a wavemker. They are more to keep the detrius in suspension and keep anything from accumulating back there. The flow seems real good for the tank and I have zero algae.

I just picked up a couple of frags today at the LFS. Unfortunately i am real bad about remembering what type they are. Any thoughts are appreciated.
