Coral only tank?

So my tank just finished it's cycle after 2 months so I got a Gsp coral and a convict tang, but the tang died after 24hrs due to it being almost paper thin (got it for 10$) so I removed him and just have the coral, my question is, since i don't have a fish, can my bacteria colony that i built up sustain itself or do I have to ghost feed the tank again until I get another fish? Obviously I have to feed the coral phytoplankton but will my bacteria sustain itself

mikedawg, how long were you planning on keeping no fish and just the one coral? maybe just see if you can return it while you wait to get a fish, instead of having to feed just a coral.

Only Until Tuesday when I can get a Juvenile Yellow Tang or a pair of clownfish

I'd ghost feed just a little bit, but the bacteria should be fine either way. The coral may benefit from the small amount of nutrients.

GSP is very hardy. You can probably keep without fish for a while. To help with your cycle, you may want to look into Probidio products. There's beneficial bacteria along with food. Feed the coral!

Your bacteria will adjust to the demands of the tank. A little ghost feeding may keep the count up, but a new fish will produce more waste and the bacteria will need to expand in population. Bottom line, you'll be fine, just don't drop a ton of fish in at once. Add 1-2 fish, give the tank a couple weeks to stabilize, then add a couple more. Rinse and repeat until fully stocked. I had a tank where I went 4-5 months with only coral and no feeding, the tank was fine, and didn't do anything funny when I added a pair of clowns.

Gotcha, I'll definitely go slow adding new additions to the tank, I'm most likely just going to add a yellow tang and leave it be for atleast a month or two. Glad to know everything will be ok, as I said, all that is in the tank is that one frag of gsp, and so far he's doing pretty good, always opens nicely
