How near to coral can a clam be without causing it any distress?

Which sorts of corals are the most concern?

Which make the best clam neighbors?

in my tank with sps at least they seem to be able to get very close. closer than I can keep sps to each other anyways.

My clams are not happy with the sebea anemone moving and touching them, yet the elegance coral touches the mantles regularly and there is no distress. The things that bother my clams are my gobies sending sand over them, my algae blenny resting on their mantles, and if snails or crabs clean near the lip of their shell. Otherwise they get used to the fish and waving actions of my corals. Good luck.

i think so too..my scolly are inflating on top of my derassa and they seem fine

Many types of clams are found in close proximity to various corals- Croceas are known to bore into coral colonies. They should be fine with anything that can't overgrow and shade it. One other great thing is that Clams are Mollusks- not cnidarians and thus produce a different chemical scent from actual corals- a scent that shouldn't throw corals into attack mode. Peace.

Not your exact question, but my Crocea is fine being next to/touching my Haddoni anemone.
