Coral purchased with wrong ID from the Fox Valley Reefers meeting

Hello guys,

One again thanks for the great time that we all had there.

While there I bought what I thought/was told was a orange leather. After a month of not doing very well I started looking up more info on the coral and found it to be a "Orange Soft Coral" in the dendronephthya species. Being that this coral is not photosynthetic is the reason I beleave it is not doing well.

Im worried that it wont do well in my setup and that I will be out the coral and the $89 that I spent on it.

Any recommendations?

Hella,

Thank you for contacting us. We are glad to hear all of you had a great time up here. Is it is possible for you to contact us by phone or by PM to get us your order information and we would be happy to look into this further. Also if possible can you send us a picture of the coral and we can certainly help identify the coral and let you know the requirements. We apologize for any inconvenience and look forward to resolving this concern for you.

Hella,

Thank you for posting pictures of the coral. We referenced Katharina Fabricius and Philip Alderslade’s Soft Corals and Sea Fans book on page 110 and it appears to be in the Scleronephthya family. If you look at pictures 2 and 4 are the best representation of this coral. We would like to verify this information with our Aquaculture Coral and Marine Life Facility on Monday.

We will repost as soon as we have an answer on Monday. We apologize for any inconvenience.
