Hi peter and crew, well its just taken me two and a bit days to read through this thread and i don't really know what to say as i think i have run out of superlatives, i will suffice by saying that my 100 gallon tank now looks like a nano to me, the thought and planning that has gone into this build so far is outstanding and the attention to detail goes beyond belief, but i think the thing that has impressed me the most has been your willingness to learn and take on board advice from others. I hope that when this is finally complete that you will get years of pleasure out of it as i'm sure you will. I think the aquascaping is absolutely stunning and i can't wait to see how this develops with the addition of livestock, maybe one day i can build my dream tank lottery win permitting, until then i will have to be content with drooling over yours. All the best of luck from over the pond, Regards Gary.

Thank you very much Gary. The truth is that this is really turning out to be a community originated tank. Everyone who has contributed can see a piece of themselves in this tank. So save yourself the floorspace, expense and headaches........and get an oversized HD screen to display your new tank to your friends.

Seriously, welcome to the community and thank you very much for reading all of this thread.....its sort of like a marathon except just when you think you have come to the end there's a sign that says only 26 miles to go.........:bounce3::bounce3:

I must have missed where you chose to go with the GHL!

We have to talk! Great controller... Been using mine for ever!

Let's talk about variable speed closed loop control, dosing, and on and on...

I love these things!

See you next week!

Well done on the aquascaping. I applaud your effort and creativity. 5 12 hour days would drive me insane lol.

Wow 48 hours away and missed so much!!! Peter the tank looks stunning with all the rock and water in place. The Bros & Mr. Wilson did a fabulous job with awesome creativity!!! Can't wait to see it in a year full of life and growing out should be spectacular....

Won't be at MACNA until Friday but will make sure and stop by the booth and say hi!

Thank you very much Eric. Believe it or not, the kids are still at it today putting on the final touches but the medication helps......

Truly spectacular Peter. This shows what planning, knowledge, skill, effort, and a true desire to do your very best can produce. I think all of the people on your team have exhibited these qualities, as well as the ability to learn, and adapt. Your management style has allowed your team to produce some wonderful results. I wish I could be in Florida to raise a glass with all of you. I can’t wait for the rest, it is hard to believe it will get even better.
Best of luck
Doug

I agree, there is no all-in-one bulb out there yet. The space above the tank is limited. The original plan was to go double wide with the lighting fixtures but I don't see that happening with the duct work in place. As mentioned, the duct is there specifically for the tank.

The plasma reflector appears to be compact and hopefully lightweight. Some report that in order to get the desired aesthetic of blueish light the plasma light needs to bedimmed down to the point of compromising PAR value. I hope that isn't the case. We will know soon so stay tuned.

Not sure which plasmas you are planning on, but I have found that they maintain reasonable PAR while blue (I am running two Stray Light Optical 290W Seashines on a 150 G build) - of course I must mention that I like the color rendition values at a much "whiter" level than what seems to be preferred for reef tanks these days. I think you may be surprised at the results with the lights at 85-95%. Looking forward to your results, so far they are working great on my build.

This thread is great fun watching a masterpiece in progress...

nothing today. We need calcium reactor media but I haven't checked with Schuran to see what they recommend. Anyone???

Heya, been reading but never had anything to add to what's already been said. Great work and even moreso to see Mr Wilson back in the swing of things :)

If you have the JetStream2, I've used Zeo, Aragonite and the "acro stick" and haven't noticed a difference other than the latter type. You'll have to use more CO2 (lower pH) to get the maintain the same Ca level in the system. Most likely due to surface area of the media and CaCO3 crystalline structure.

It seems like it would drive a sane person straight into insanity, but it was actually a tonne of fun every step of the way. Every piece was a new adventure- searching for the right rock and making sure that it looked natural in its new location.

We could literally make final touches for the next month but unfortunately we used up all 120 packs of the Epo Putty! :fun4:

Darn if only I didn't already have dinner plans for Thursday night! I love the way the rock work came out (esp the TRex). I am about to do my rock work this weekend for my newly setup 2" cube ( almost a nano compared to yours :)) and will be going with the Nylon rod/nut route, since I can't find an epoxy I like (and don't need a whole case of it).

I look forward to meeting you guys at the booth though.

Peter and Mr. Wilson my hat is off to you guys what an excellent and well documented build. I've enjoyed and continue to enjoy reading this build, this is by far one of the best if not the best build on RC and I've been lurking since 2002.

I am just as impressed with the photography as much as I am with the rockwork! Did you take those Peter? I tried to get the photo specs (e.g.: camera, exposure, ISO, etc.) from the metadata on the photos but it was probably scrubbed when you uploaded them). Anyway, I just picked up my first DLSR (a low end Canon EOS Rebel XS) just to take reef photos and hopefully learn to tweak the lighting, exposure, composition, etc. to take some photos with at least a fraction of the quality and clarity of many of the photos posted in RC, such as the ones of your rockwork.
