Well I know quite a bit about T5s and the Coral Vue is NEVER mentioned by anyone when we talk about good units...Tek is always mentioned. That should tell you something. The others mentioned are Icecap, Aqualux and Aquatinics. Other than that, forget about it. They pretty much suq

i have not seen any par comparisons to tek or aqualux or IC, but it sure does look like the coral vue has parabolic reflectors. the bad part is that of the few that have run coral vue t5ho's have had electrical issues....

I was recently in the same situation as you and decided on the Tek kit. I read that the Coralvue bulbs were not german bulbs and upgrading those would end up costing about the same as a Tek setup. Also, I figure you might as well pick up what is known to be good. It's better to spend a little more now then have to replace the whole system later.
btw, I ordered my system from reefgeek and am very happy with it.
