Figured I would share my experiences with you on coral vue titanium heaters since I have owned them for almost 3, yes 3, whole months. I started off with a 500 watt to replace a 300 and 200 watt glass heaters that had a bit of condensation on the inside. First night I had the 500 watt titanium it must have shorted out, tripped the breaker to my sump room and in the process fried the outlet on my neptune EB8 that it was plugged into (the outlet is now stuck in the on position no matter what I tell the apex to do with it). So I put the glass ones back online and called Coral vue the next morning. Great customer service, the rep told me they didn't have any 500 watt in stock but she could send me (2) 300 watt replacements. I agreed, and asked about the toasted outlet on my controller, they didn't seem to have an answer or solution for me on that one.
Fast forward 3 months that I have had the (2) 300 watt heaters running. I wake up this morning and my tank is 75.9* which is strange since I have it set for 76.6 to 76.9. The apex display shows that both heaters are on but I notice the amp reading is too low for that to be possible. Reach into the sump, one heater is hot and the other one is water temp. Switch outlets to make sure that isn't the issue. No amp change. So with less than 3 months of use I have had a second failure. I am not holding out much hope for the other heater at this point. The second one has only been online for probably 2 months, because until it started getting really cold out the single heater was keeping my 120 stable. Any other experiences out there with the coral vue titanium heaters? Looks like I will be getting an ehim next round.
