Coralife Aqualight Pro Problem

I have what I think is a small problem. I bought my 72 inch coralife aqualight pro used over 6 months ago and never got around to replacing the metal halides til now. When I was trying to slide the glass covers out they would not budge at all. I had to tap them as hard/softly as i could to slide them to replace the bulbs. And unfortunately on sliding my 3rd cover back on. It shattered. So basically I just need some input on what to do. Should I try to find/order another glass cover or would it be alright to leave it exposed.

Replace the glass, it is there to block the UV from the bulbs, running it without the glass shield is harmful to your corals.
