Anyone have experience with this unit? Is it worth the price tag? What are the actual dimensions of the unit? How much clearance does this unit need to have above the tank? Anyone with any help available??
Thanks
Brian

got one. i like it, but its no good for sps and clams! and the lights cost an arm and a leg to replace!

The lights cost so much to replace that i wish i would have just gone with a different fixture. IMO

I like mine as well. Where are you buying the replacement lights at? I think there are several places where you can buy them. I don't think you have to buy them from Coralife.

Regards,

Pat

I've got the 48" unit. I haven't gotten a chance to use it yet but my LFS uses's the 72" on his coral tank, and all corals and clams look great.

You can expect to spend about $60 each bulb for the 150 wat MH. At least thats what I can get them for locally.

I have the 48" Aqualite. It's not the pro version but I did add the moonlites. Overall, I wish I would have chosen a different unit. I did have some problems thefirst time I tried to change the bulbs, as the bulb pins had actually become corroded and fused into the endcaps (where the bulbs plug into.) Unfortunately, the customer service from Coralife was terrible, and it took several phone calls to right the problem and get new parts.

After the new bulbs were installed, I still don't think the unit produces as much light as i would like. Many of the corals seem "hungry" for light looking at their growth and daily expansions while moving them up and down in the tank. (Standard 55g tank) In retrospect, and knowing I am only going to keep ugrading equipment anyway, I would started with hallides or T5. I don't like knowing there are certain things that won't do well...Id like my restrictions on stock to be because of my wallet, not my equipment.

I haven't used one of these lights personally, but I have sold a few to customers when I was working at a LFS and never had any complaints.

I find this thread to be fairly usefull, as I'm looking to setup a 55-90G predator tank and even though I won't be into anything much other then a few fish, it leaves my options open, and brightens up/highlights what I'll already have in the tank.

Dunno, I've had more experience with Coralife's Powercompact fixtures, and I actually think that that might suit me better...but it's still nice to hear what other people think about different products.
