Coralife bicube 14 light upgrade

Has anyone upgraded their light in their coralife biocube 14 hood? If so which retrofit kit did you use? Looking to leave the hood on

Rapid LED. I bought a basic kit then ended up adding a bunch more. Great kit its easy to install and they work awesome.

I've been scouring RC and some other sites for the last few weeks, trying to figure out what kit to get as well. Based on price and performance, I think I'm going to go with the RapidLED setup as well. Mine will be mostly for growing acros, but I have the 29g biocube. I just have to figure out whether a retro will actually be better than these Ecoxotic panorama pros that came with my tank or not.

14g acros are doable, but I imagine it'll be tough unless you're planning on lots of frequent water changes

I had acros in my 14 gal. Weekly waterchages and 2 part is all I needed. I started with the 12 LED kit but by the end I had 21 LEDs over it including colors. Worked great! As long as you stay on top of things, its very doable. Yes stability is a little harder to get a hold on, but once you develop a good routine and stick to it, the stability will come.

If I were to do it again, I'd go with a custom set-up right out of the gates, and I would have done an ATO and possibly a doser set-up. I had what I would consider decent growth in there, and colors were also decent. But then again, most of the SPS I started with in that tank were not very flashy like the ones I like to collect now ;)

I hate posting this pic, and yes the tang was rehomed, but all this was grown with the stock lighting. Everything started as small frags.....

I used to have to keep fragging the cap because it would shade everything. Also that pocci colony grew out of control and I would have to frag those back regularly....

Sorry about the blue pic, but notice the cap growing up the back wall, LOL! Also notice more stix....

Acro I got from Marvin (first acro ever)...

Grew to this before I shut it down....

Hope this at least gives you some hope and inspiration. Knowing what I know now, I would do things differently but I'm more experienced, and this was my first tank ever!

Here is my LED layout if interested....
