Coralife/Pacific Coast Imports skimmers

Jason, I noticed that the coralife super skimmer and the Pacific Coast Import skimmers look fairly similar, can you tell us what the differences are? The both have needle wheel pumps, are there differences in construction? And lastly which one in your opinion performs better (in equivalent sizes)?

Hi,

From what we can tell, they are the same skimmer or at least the same manufacture. They are both imports from China. I haven't really compared them on price. I would recommend looking for the size you want and just see who ever is cheapest.

There are some model differences, where Coralife has the hang on/sump combo, and PC has some sump only and some hang-on choices.

Quality wise, they use a cheaper injectino mold acrylic, pretty thin but for a budget skimmer, looks pretty nice.

Hi,

They do not have any printed name on the pumps, so can't be sure, but appears to be the same also. The impellers look pretty decent, it is a true needle impeller. Not as heavy duty as the Sedra's they use on EuroReef and ASM, but should work pretty good.
