Coralife Power Center

Anybody out there use any of the Coralife power centers to control lights and such. Are they any good? A fews years back I read here on this fourm about them causing some fires and other unpleasentries. I does seem to be a nice compact way to control accessories.

I have 2 for my bio cube they are OK but I don't think I would buy them again I think I would go to Loews or Home Depot and get a timer there.

Good Luck Mark

I have the largest power center corallife makes. I cant complain one bit, I have had it for about 2 years without a single problem. I would go with another one if I needed to in a heartbeat. If your not satisfied, you will get your money back. Why not try it out?

I have a Coralife timer and I like it a lot, and I have done horrid stuff until I mounted it to the wall, have spilled water on it while it was on.. had water dripping over it, stepped on it etc etc. Works great.

One complaint: if you change the timer, and you set your time BACK, I.E. The current time is 8pm and you set it from it's timed position of 9pm to 7pm. The lights will stay on. I just simply manually turned them off for the night and it "reset" at the next command time.

i have the one with 2 timers (the wheel not the digital) i have had it for about three months. no issues except the timer that controls the metal halides has gotton stuck on 4 different occasions, and even when i turn the wheel so it should go off, it dident. i turn it off with the middle thing and wait till morning and its fine for another few weeks. pretty irritating. but i may just trade it in for another, its a really convient machine

I have my actinic t-5s and my fuge plugged into the other timer and when the actinics and fans go off the fuge kicks on, plus theres a few few regular plugs. its nice

I've also had one of the digital timers for the last 6 months or so, and I've never had any problems with it. I keep it covered with a towel for the inevitable "spills" and despite getting soaked, I've never had a problem.

Wow, five replies and not one mention of fire. :p

I used the single timer model for about 2 years. I kept it clear of water splashes, and the only problem I had was at about the 2 year mark it started to stick in the 'on' position occasionally.

I eventually ditched it for Intermatic timers, which include battery backup for $15 a piece. Although those will soon be replaced by a DC8 for my AC Jr.
