A long time ago Coralife salt was known to have a very high....I think it was lithium concentration. This information was from a study of the salt mixes done by Atkinson and Bingman in 1999, but the article is no longer available on line. It's quite possible that Coralife salt is better formulated these days, but I do not know. Some people (again, this is anecdotal info from almost 7 years ago, so take it with a large grain of your choice of salt) found they were having problem when they would introduce sea stars into their reef tanks that were using Coralife salt.

I can say that with coralife, I have and had a ton or coraline algea. I am talking about scraping at least once a week, but I do have a calcium reactor. I also had no problems with stars, at least with serpents, brittle, and asterina stars. Still, I am not saying it is the best, only it worked well for me.
