coralife skimmer pump piece broken?

My CSS 125 isn't working quite as well as it had been. I opened up the pump to see if it might be clogged or something. There is a white stick like piece that the needle wheel slides over. I believe the white stick is all supposed to be one piece, but it is two pieces. Am I right in thinking this piece broke? If so, does anyone know where I can get a replacement part?

That's the impeller shaft, should be in one piece. I had the same thing happen with mine. According to the LFS where I bought it, parts are not available for sale as yet so he contacted the ESU/Coralife rep who sent a warranty replacement out. It took quite a while (six weeks) to receive the shaft, tho.

I'd recommend contacting your LFS or supplier as well, they should be able to obtain the replacement for you. For what it's worth, ESU wouldn't respond to my direct inquiries.

Is it OK to keep running the skimmer like this until I get some kind of replacement?

What area of a hobby store would have a carbon fiber rod like this (I don't go to hobby stores often)?

I WANT TO GET ONE AS A SPARE, EVEN THOUGH MINE IS NOT SETUP YET. SO IF IT DOES HAPPEN I DONT HAVE TO WAIT. WHAT KIND OF PROOF DO THEY NEED TO HAVE?
