Coralife Super Skimmer 65

I have my new 30 cube up and going. The new skimmer seemed to be working well for a month or so. I never noted any foam but there was a little skimmate adhering to the skimmer. Enough that I had to clean it weekly. All of a sudden the bubbles just stopped. I took the skimmer out of the sump and cleaned it and put it back in the sump. I was able to get microbubbles but have never noted any foam. It is not skimming anywhere as well as my hob CPR backpack does. I added my two clowns about 3 weeks ago and thought the skimmate would increase with the added bioload, however this is not the case. Can anyone tell me what I need to do to get this skimmer to function properly? My corals and fish are thriving. I have followed all the directions in the manual, but still no skimmate. The tank has been up and going for over 2 months now. Thanks.

i have the same skimmer on a 33. Not too much skimmate, but it is producing. I havent had issues with it stopping or anything either. This is my first skimmer so i cant compare it to others, just thought i would chime in that mine seems okay. it has been running on an 8 month old tank. its full open on both valves, producing a wet skimmate.

is your water flow valve full open? the one right above the pump?
how high is the water level the pump is in? Mine is being used as a hob in my sump. pump is located about 5-6 inches below water level in the first compartment.

last, whats your water params.. maybe you just dont have enough dissolved solids.

i have heard some people add airstones with success. Not necessarily to this model though.

post a pic if you can. maybe a few angles.

I have heard the pump for those is subpar. And most replace it with something a bit more better. Cleaning is prolly not the issue. Although the system might not be able to do much at the current time. You can try alternating between a really wet skim and a dry skim to see how the results vary. Or add a food additive like phyto and see if pulls the 'green' out.

Some people with new skimm's will add some skimmate from another existing system's skimmer into that one to 'Prime' it.
