Can anyone tell me why my coralline algae grows on rock powerheads and overflow box, but never on glass?

IME; it will grow on glass/acrylic if you don't clean often enough. Sometimes I would go out of town for a couple of weeks, and my wife wouldn't use the mag float, and I would come back to small spots of encrusted coralline growing on the glass. Easy enough to remove on a glass tank (razor blade), but a real problem with acrylic.

Mine grows everywhere indiscriminately. Are your CA/Dkh/Mg levels high & consistent? If not, the growth will be limited.
