Coraline skimmer

Yes, i realize this skimmer is probably not a prize but I am curious as to whether or not it would work well enough in a hospital tank to pull out excess proteins? I am running a HOB filter, but I don't feel it's doing the job that a protein skimmer could do. It's only a 40 gallon tank with one fish in it, but I'd like to have the additional water filtration if possible.

Opinions and experiences welcome please. Thank you in advance.

Well.. you know its not "prized" already... So asking about it isn't going to change that

I have the 65g model on a 40gB with a 20g sump and it does the job. It's not top of the line or anything but works for my light bio load. I personally think it would work for a HT. Of course I got mine for $20 and wouldn't pay much more than that if I was given the option. If you plan on buying new I would spend a few more dollars and get a better rated skimmer.
