Coralline algae

Hello to all,

Do you guys know if clams eat coral line algae? I cleaned the glass of the tank at my office today since i haven't cleaned it in a week and all the pink and red color tinted the water, the clams were fine all day though, but just wondering if they feed off of it.

I would suspect they don't, but have no proof to back that out. Daniel Knop (I believe) wrote that clams can only a few microns big. THis is why dead phyto products aren't good for feeding clams, they often clump, becoming too big.

I would suspect that the coralline "powder" we scrape off is too big for them.

well this happened in my 40 breeder, i don't think that the coraline i scraped off teh glass was big at all which is why i am asking, and which is why it tinted the water as well.
