So since my coralline algae has taken off, I have been throwing the idea around to let it grow on the back of the tank. I can't decide whether I want it to grow or if I want to keep scraping to still see the nice black paint job I did :) What are your thoughts? any pictures of tanks with the back covered or ones that are scraped often would be a great help :)

I scrape it. I have let it go in the past but when i did a system re-start i decided to try keeping it "clean" It grew on me and now I prefer it.

In my opinion tanks look better with coralline on the rocks only. Think about it, if you are growing corals with a similar color they will not stand out as much as they would against a black background.

Nope. I think the back looks better covered in coralline. :)

I actually find it quite interesting, and plenty of other things grow there too, like tube worms, etc.

LET IT GROW, i dig the way it looks, and adds biodiversity to the tank, along with the coralline my glass is populated by various sponges, fans, other kinds of algae, bugs, snails u name it

I am letting it grow on the back of my tank. I didn't paint the back knowing I wanted to let it grow. Now thinking I will try to carve in to a picture. (rock shapes and branching coral) The light coming from the sump creates a cool look shinning behind the tank.

I think by allowing some coralline to grow thinker in some places, it will create a depth illusion.

If you like how it looks, let it grow. If not, scrape it off. Simple as that! ;)
I will say, if you end up scraping, you will be the envy of most who are new to tanks. I see dozens of threads on how to grow great coralline quickly and here you are thinking of removing it! :)
