Coralline

Hi I have a 22 oceanic tank with a clown and I want some really good coralline in there. how would any of you go about doing this I herd purple up is not a smart choice so is there any other way?

Thanks but wouldn't I need good calcium levels and a some what of a good light for it to start growing all over my tank. If so then what would be the best way to get calcium in my tank

if you don't have anything to consume calcium rapidly then it should be fine. i used to have coralline grow using regular Instant Ocean salt when i had soft corals and also PC lighting.

most salts should be good enough to help coralline grow. i would get a rock that has some already and maybe get a razor and scrape some of it off in your tank. one way or another itll get into your aquarium either by corals that have some on them or even snails

A relatively simple way to go about getting the right parameters for coralline growth is:
1. Test calcium levels using a test kit (buy one if you don't have one).
2. Test KH levels using a test kit (ditto on buying one).
3. Use a liquid calcium chloride product (such as Kent Marine's "Liquid Calcium") per the label directions to maintain Ca at 400-440 ppm.
4. Use a carbonate-based KH/alkalinity increasing product (such as Kent Marine's "ProBuffer dKH") to maintain KH at 8-10 dKH.

You'll need some live rock (the more you put in the faster your tank will turn purple) to seed the tank with coralline. Regular reef lighting (60 watts or more of power compact, T5 or metal halide) will be fine.

Don't get any urchins -- many are coralline eaters.

And have patience!
