I hate to be the idot but im going to ask. Has anyone bought any corals or live rock from ebay? I was bored today hanging with with my clowns and surfing around the ebay and see they have corals. Do you think it is safe to get them from there? Just throwing it out there guys/girls want to see your reactions.

I've bought live rock from ebay and didn't have any trouble. Never corals though... shipping generally doesn't make it worthwhile.

I got some sweet live rock on ebay that was still loaded w/ life and coralline after 2 day shipping in the winter in MN. Make sure they don't have negative feedback and atleast a handful of positive feedback. Also, plan on spending atleast $40-50 shipping for stuff.

IMO, that is the least preferable method.

IMO:
Many claims [and ID's] on the corals are questionable, especially claims of rarity.
Photos tend to be doctored more than online vendors [certainly more than the LFS] ;)
There's less recourse if there's a problem.
Personally, I don't like the idea of these precious reef creatures being auctioned off for dollar ... with little care of it's life past getting the highest price.

IMO, I'd either go with a online mailorder, a LFS, or for coral check a reef club. I prefer to see my new creatures in person first, to see their color, health, and see how they're doing.
Better deals, all IMO are a little more vested in having their storefront/reputation being thought of well.

Given on Ebay sellers can threaten to leave bad feedback for you, among other `games' ... I just don't trust it the way I do a store I can search online about, or ask locals about.

Just my take.
