corals close at night?

i have a torch that deflates when lights are out...brain that doesnt extend its tentacles...xenia that closes gorgoniant that closes uhmmm any idea if this is normal?

it doesnt seem it.

not unusual at all. watch with a red flashlight well after lights out to see if sweeper tentacles come out on the torch and brain.

Just about all my corals, ie.. frogspawn, xenia, zoas ect close when the lights go out.

Some corals tend to stay closed throughout daylight hours, then open up or extend their polyps, at night.

+1 and some open for feeding when just the attinics are on after a time of intense light like halides.(these are the evening feeders)

ok well i havent seen my brains tentacles....and ive had it for a week or so...i watched it in dailight/actinic only /moonlight only

The frogs and torches retract at night. The Brain should open to feed at some point. A week may be a little early for it to be comfortable. Try checking it in the morning before lights on.
