do corals normally close up at night... from the reading i had done i thought some stayed open at night to feed? do most corals close up at night? some? all? whats the deal... any help would be great.

ACCORDING TO PLANET EARTH THEY STAY OPEN AND EVEN OPEN MORE AT NIGHT BECAUSE THERE IS NO SUN AND CANT USE THE ENRGY FROM THE ALGAE IN THEIR CELLS

my frog spawn and GSP i just got.. they are just frags but only the frog spawn will open up sometimes during the night, but never the GSP tho.

just on a seocnd side note would this be a good food coral food for the GSP, Frogspawn, and my little SPS? iv look up reef chili, and its really pricy and i havent found a vendor in canda yet coral food

some corals close up, some stay the same, and some will extend feeder tentacles at night.

for the price of the food you linked to i would use DTs oyster eggs. i like the frozen cyclop-eez as well. both of those do great for smaller polyped corals, while bigger polyped corals like mysis shrimp, and things like that.

Nobody seemed to have touched on this so allow me, even if your corals are night feeders naturally, they very well may adapt to feeding during the daylight hours. My bubble coral will extend his feeding tenticles during mid-day if I happen to be home and feeding the tank. And it's his naturall tendency to do this at night.
Same with Trumpet corals (candy canes) They feed at night, but after awhile, they may just start showing feeders during the daytime.
