My current set up consists of a 40 breeder with 8 t5s. 4 on for 9 hours and all 8 on for 3 hours. 5 month old ATI bulbs. Current parameters include:
alk==8-9dkh Redsea kit
salinity==1.024-5
phos.==.00-.01ppm hanna lr meter
nitrates==.25-.50ppm Redsea kit
calcium==450-460ppm Redsea kit
Magnesium==1380-1420ppm Redsea kit
Fe==.07-.10ppm Redsea kit
I==.04-.06ppm Redsea kit
K==390-410ppm Redsea kit.
I have slowed my feeding down to just a few times a week with Reef Energy A&B and Coral frenzy 2x a week at double dose.
Largest fish is a 3" yellow tang, lawnmower blenny, canary blenny, indigo peusodo, two chromis, cherub angel, and a small yellow watchman and shrimp. 75% of all corals are SpS followed with a few lps and a couple zoas and mushrooms. 50gallons total system, 200gph return pump 2x1050 hydors and 2x500 jbj ocean streams. 35 lbs of live rock (3-5 years old) reef octopus recirculating skimmer for 125g and uv (5watt).
so in the last month or so I have actually picked up on my water changes to
5g a week, previous I had the best ever extension and colors without water changes for almost 2 years. I dosed with Redsea products as directed. on average I was getting 1/2" a month growth on most sps and some lps were growing super fast.
with in about a two week span, changing nothing about my normal routine, I noticed my corals browning out and oxidizing to an extent. in the last few weeks I have lost about 300.00 in sps a few large colonies that have been happy for over a year. everything in my tank was grown from 1" frags from the store I helped run. my p04 at the time was .10ppm . I will post some pics of my tank then and now for comaparison. I have asked a few close friends who have extensive sps knowledge but they came with the same conclusions that I had tested and debunked as problems. any ideas?????
