during/after my water change my zoas and candy cane released a weird mucus - i have seen this before and it seemed to go away next day but id love a little knowledge on what exactly is going on - i noticed it during my water changes

also those white tentacles are normal on my mushrooms right? what does that generally mean when they are out? eating time?

i am sure that the silk on your trumpet and mushrooms are from a tube worm insde the rock or tubed near the coral which feeds by catching its food with its silklike rope and reels it in. its a common irritant to coral and will cause some to close.

nuclear360, you are thinking of Vermetid Snails. They feed by releasing a mucous string/net that catches food in the water column then reel it back into the tube they live in.

cerino, the string I see coming off your corals, has air bubbles in it as well. I believe that is still slime from stress. Should go away in a few hours.

Np, cerino. When you did your water change did you have a lot of microbubbles? That is why my trumpet (candy cane) made its slime string.

Nothing to worry about it cerino. You have a turkey baster? blow it off.. everyone gets a lil angry after a water change but those palys are hardy they can live in toilet water..
