Corralline on acrylic

I'm geting ready to set up a 75 gallon reef tank. The tank is acrylic, and one of the local gurus told me that acylic is a bad choice for a reef b/c you scrath it up trying to get the coralline off the sides. It will be viewed from 3 sides so I am particularly concerned. Anyone have experience on how to deal with this?

Welcome to RC!

Very gently with a credit card probably your best bet. Three sides viewable will be a PITA as far as coraline -- the local guru is accurate. Not a bad choice for a reef (easy to drill), but not the best choice for a smallish tank that's going to require scraping on three sides.

Minor scratches on acrylic are pretty easy to correct with fine grained wet-sandpaper. Work in increments from say 200, 600 to 800 and sanding in opposite directions during each different sandpaper grade.

Also, small scratches on the inside of the tank might even be un-noticeable with water in the tank (I can attest to this).
