Cortez ray Not eating

Hi I've had a cortez ray for about a week and I can't tell but it doesn't seem to be eating it hovers over the food sucks it up
And then spits it out it trys about 3 times and gives up any ideas btw it was eating in the store and i'm trying the same food

What are you feeding, and how big is the ray?

The ray is 4-5" and I'm feeding cut up scallops and a homemade fish food found here http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2019353 I saw it eat some of this the first day i had it but nothing else

I have a california ray and I thought the same thing about mine. Then after a few days I noticed he would eat a few bites of food if it was small enough and then he would just play with the rest. Being that small, their stomach cant be that big. Its probably eating a small amount. I would just keep your eye on it. Good luck.

Make sure you cut it up small enough for it to eat. If the pieces are too big he will spit it out.

Mine is about the same size. I feed mine a cut up silverside or frozen krill. I put the piece of food on a feeding stick and the ray eats it from the stick so I know it is eating. From what I have read, rays sometimes don't eat for a week or so when first introduced.

+1. The size your ray is, he's going to need pretty small pieces of food.

I have a small cortez ray in my 150g. I cut scallops up in to strips like small french fries. He'll come up the glass and eat them out of my hand.
