costs of like a 240 gallon tank?

Does anyone know if it is any better further north- Pacific NW/Seattle area? I mean- it's cooler, so less AC is always good, and it's not CA, so that's good too! I am waiting to build my monster tank till i settle up there. Haven't hooked up chiller and MH yet, but I am nervous! With a nice little setup I have spent:
tank and stand: $150 (used crappy cockroachy stand ew) (60 gal glass)
wet/dry with skimmer and overflow $275
Chiller $400
Lights $800
skimmer/sump upgrade $700 (mini G and 20L Eurofil sump with sock kit)
other equip (GFCI, nets, heaters, QT tank and accessories, water, etc: $500
Livestock: $400? (just fish so far, couple losses)
Food and water each month: $75? (stocked on food for now, but have to buy RO and SW and been buying lots for changing medicated QT and whatnot)
used nano to satisfy me while the bigger tank takes longer to mature: $140 (came with $300+ worth of accessories, plus 5 yrs established and in great condition)
still can't get enough.... I can't make anymore money- I just need to learn to spend less!! Plus I've developed a liking for wine and champagne after work.. That adds up darnit!

.0723 is what my electric costs per useage. I'm in Salem/Keizer, which is 45 miles south of Portland, Oregon.
Don't know how that will compare with Seattle, WA., but might help you get some idea.

225 with lots of DIY and carefully acquired used equipment, buying rock slowly as the opportunity for deals come up, buying frags and getting deals from locals, selecting efficient low energy equipment (low sump flow and head, tunze, T5, quality reflectors for MH and T5), accepting reduced MH means less SPS and mixed reef has equaled about 3500-4000 at this point and last month cost about an additional $200.00 on the electric bill in CA at .364 per KWh
I have a 210g FOWLR. So far I havnt spent near as much as any of these guys because lighting is a huge part of their budget. I am lucky to be in a great Saltwater markets (Dallas,Houston,Austin,San Antonio) and be a member of a great local club here in San Antonio. Because of this ive saved tons of money. I bought a used 210g Oceanic brick with a custom furniture stand for only $350 in amazing condition!! New would have easily $1500-1700 Heres where im at

Same here. I've been working on a new inwall double sided 225gl tank for a full year (I work a lot and have a 2yr old so have only been able to work on the tank here and there). Still no water and I'm easily at over $9k, and plan to spend another $3k to $4k within the next 45 days as I finish setting it up, add water and start cycling.

Also, yeah, I'm concerned about my monthly electircal bill once my new tank is finally up and running -- I'm also in So.Cal. Summer before last I had some $800 electrical bills during the heat waves - my first summer in the house. This summer, less air conditioning, and brought it down to $500 during the heat waves.
New tank will make So.Cal Edison like me. It will be 225gl with a 400gl capacity sump (but probably with equipment displacement, etc, run about 200-250 gls in the sump). Two dart pumps, 3 400wt MH's run by sunlight electronic ballasts, Moon lights (at least those are cheap to run), Neptune controller, Deltec skimmer, Deltec Kalk reactor w/ stirrer, Litermeter, Calcium reactor, Automated switching electronic ball valve on my closed loop, heaters, and a couple other things that will draw power. Although expensive, to save a couple hundred a month during the summer, I plan to go with the Deltec Eco chiller that will be only about $5 per month versus a normal chiller that could cost several hundred dollars a month.
I anticipate about $350 to 500 p/month in cost to run the listed setup, not including fish/coral purchases and cost of set-up, which will likely end up at about $12-15k.

Im in socal, 380g 3x400w MH 4x72" VHO, 3.3amp return, 4 95w pump for protein skimmer, 750w heater (hardly ever run), 14 amp chiller $200 monthly (just for the electricity) $100+ fish food (frozen), $110 on salt mix I did not pay for water for the RODI.... Setup cost? let not talk about it...The hottest month this year my electric bill was $585.00
