I use a Ca reactor w/out kalk.
A kalk stirrer is for ATO, and stirs the calcium hydroxide periodically since it's quite insoluble. Kalk can be enough to maintain parameters on a small tank along w/ WCs.
A Ca reactor recirulates injected CO2 in a chamber of solid agaronite media, calcium carbonate and other trace elements found in coral skeleton, to slowly, adjustably add Ca and alkalinity.
The acidity of the generated carbonic acid dissolves the aragonite media.
You can adjust the bubble count of CO2 and the effluent flow rate to keep things going w/ out anything else. I don't do many WCs, but they are key to the success of any tank.
Most people dose calcium chloride, sodium bicarbonate and magnesium sulfate individually using a peristaltic pump to maintain control of parameters. WCs are nessary to keep chloride ion concentration under control.
