Could I do this

I would like to remove the front section between the two front doors so i can put in a new sump. This is the only way it will fit. Sump is four feet long and my tank is a 220.

It does seem to be supporting anything. Only the four corners seem to be holding up the tank. Of course once this is in will put it back up.

I had the same issue years back and what I did was temp install a 2x4 header and 2x4 posts and each side and then remove the center bracket install your sump and then reinstall the middle piece. Keep this in mind this is too be safe..your stand might just have corner supports...
You can also leave the 2x4 header and posts for future work...
