A while ago a guy came into my store and dropped off two buckets of rock, corals and fish. He said he was moving and didn't want to move his Nano Cube, so here you go.
So we all pilfered through it taking what we wanted. Mostly softys...xenia, kenya trees, etc. He had a really nice green open brain which is a centerpiece in my tank. I was super stoked to get it so I didn't pay much attention to the little zoanthid frag in the bucket too. All closed up with like 10 polyps.
I threw it in the bucket with the brain and took it home. It opened up and they were neat, but now that they've colored up and grown they certainly are starting to look like purple hornets. Based on the other corals in this guys tank and the price of these zoas, it seems silly that he would have them and not know what they were.
They grow really fast, they are one of the fastest spreading colonies in my tank.
Either way I love them, but they do have most of the characteristics of hornets. What do you think? Can anyone confirm or deny this? Or at least give me you're two cents. hehe
