Could one of my anemones eat a "Powder Blue Tang"?

I had a 4" powder blue tang that has VANISHED from my tank. I see no jumper carcus nothing in my sump. I moved half of my live rock. No body anywhere.

Nitrates: 0 - 0.5
Amonia: 0
Nitrites: 0
PH 8.23
Temp 79 - 80.5

No new crazy activity in my protein skimmer. Nothing out of the ordinary. Just a missing 4" tang. I have a slightly larger Hippo Tang and a Foxface that are similar in size that have been in the tank for a year.

The powder blue showed no signs of illness. It had always been a little skinny (maybe they are supposed to be, I don't know), but he'd been in the tank for a little over a month. He's been missing for 48 hours, so I think I've waited the required time to file the "missing persons report".

I have 20 or so BTA's in my tank. I would think them to be too small or the fish too big for them to eat it, but far stranger things have happened in my tank.

Thanks

It's possible that before you even realized it was missing, that it has been a while since it died. And if so maybe the many critters/worms in your tank has already taken care of the body.

You can also try checking in the sand. I have found fishes half buried due to water flow/critters.

I would think it's unlikely that any of your BTAs ate it. Agree with above in that it could have died and your cleanup crew did what they do best.

well if its any consolation my old RBTA ate 3 chromis and a bartlets athias...but tangs are pretty big i'd think you would see quite a bulge

dont think so

dont think so

I dont think it was the anenomes......
I think it has died and is jammed in somewhere under or between rocks....
and...1/2 eaten by now it wont even look like a fish..it will look like a piece
of dried out haddock with no batter ha! sorry ....had to take the shot....

Sometimes we look on floor and we do not see it cause cat ate it etc....

Sometimes it gets into crack between tank and wall and cant be seen etc....

but agree with previous on here...the crabs and critters can gobble up a fair size fish fairly quick once it dies....you wont recognize it a few days later....

Sorry to hear of the likely loss.....

Its not in your overflow eh?
