Hair algae, and I count at least 8 Aiptasia anemones as well (and I don't mean the yellow polyps at the front). Definitely a nutrient issue going on here -- if you can get nitrates and phosphates down to undetectable levels the algae should eventually die off (manual removal is a good idea as well, in the meantime), and kalk paste, lemon juice, Joe's Juice or another pest anemone remedy should take care of the Aiptasia.

feed less, make sure youve got a decent clean up crew, get a good skimmer, and get some phosban

By phosban do you mean a phosban reactor?

Best way IMO is to keep up with the water changes.I have never used any reactor so I cant give you any advice on that.Do you mix your own salt or buy it from the LFS?

If it was me I would start doing them every week until you can get things under control. This happened to me once until I got all my params under control.

I feed two cubes of frozen, one misis and one blood worms. I also give them a pinch of Formula One and Two flake, all once a day. I have seven fish. Do you think I'm feeding too much?

I feed 3 cubes a day and only have 4 fish.1 clown,1 six line,1 chromis,1 aussie sailfin.I also add one sheet of nori per day. Some of the food I feed is also for my corals.Do you have a sump or are you sumpless?

I have a sump/refugium converted from a wet/dry (removed bio-balls)
I have some rubble in there and cheato
It's about 8 gallons.

Then I would just do your water changes every week and you should see results.Worst case is that you might have to cook your rock.

If you can afford it, and especially if you have a larger tank.. I would invest in a good RO/Di water Filter. I have mine plumbed straight to my tank, so it tops it off as evaporation occurs. This insures that the water you are useing to top off and do water changes has zero phosphates or nitrates. A local LFS store even sells RO/Water for those that dont have a system. This, plus a good skimmer, not overfeeding, equals no algae issues in the long run. How old has your setup been together? still cycleing maybe? if so, algae is expected and will go away. Clean up crew? do you have a diverse and suffecient amount of snails, cucumbers, ect. Might want to look into a algae/lawnmower blennie, sea hair, turbos, for the hair algae. Ive had luck with peppermint shrimp takeing care of aptasia. But as stated above make sure your water chem is correct/good before investing into live critters.

So how do I cook the rocks? will this kill all the "live" rock part of it
