Some type of Gorgonian that is apparently losing tissue or else has something growing on it.

looks like a dying gorgorian

it looks to me like a purple brush gorgonian. the green stuff in the pic is most likely algae, and the algae will eat the tissue of the gorgonian.

Aren't those the open polyps? Look on the bottom left branch, you can see them as individual dots. Could still be algae though.

look like open polyps to me, although I've never seen one with green polyps. If the green are polyps it would be a nice specimen. The main thing to find out is if it is photosynthetic or non-photosynthetic as the non-category are almost impossible to keep in most tanks.
