Couldn't resist this unique beauty...

Yeah, unfortunately my QT usually only has ambient lighting. I may change that for this fish, as I wouldn't want the crown to lighten up.

Copps, can you give some input on the color of the tail of your specimen vs Peter's new specimen?

Great fish! Be prepared for the yellow crown to vary in color w/ time, mood, temp etc. Interesting to watch the slow changes.

Mine was briefly at the Steinhart, but passed away shortly after on display to the public.

Sorry to hear that :( Do you know what happened?

I'm OK with whatever happens to the nape band... at the end of the day, even without it, it would be a gorgeous fish at a great price.

That is an awesome fish. I saw it as well. I wish I could afford more tanks and more fish...

I'm glad you got it!!!

Nice fish Peter. I was admiring that beauty as well, but ended up pulling the trigger on the Mitratus..

The only reason I haven't bought a mitratus is that so many butterflies are yellow and black.... don't want aggression.

:dance: but the prices are insane over there in the States:thumbdown
Over here we pay about 280€ for such a fish and he is much bigger then

That's only $40 cheaper at 360 USD... and aren't royal grammas like $40 USD in Europe? ;)

Oh believe me, I lose.... I miss those wonderful trips and shopping I'd do in Europe 10 years ago :( :(

Not reef safe, but it can be done if you're okay with limited PE on SPS. Softies and LPS may be on the menu. Always a risk with Bflys.

Declivis and Hybrid picking at SPS polyps. Notice the limited PE:

What's up Eric! Meh... I always say polyp extension is for nighttime!

On a side note, you reminded me of my first specimens you wrote about seemingly not that long ago... turns out it was in 2008!

And this article you did on the first one in the DD...

Peter pointed out the conversion rate, but also keep in mind that with some of these Roaops they have upside down pricing structures... meaning smaller specimens garner higher prices... this is becoming more common with tinkeri out of Hawaii, as most all are large specimens collected in Kona and the oddball tiny one is getting more money...

That's a beautiful fish, that website is expensive!! Wow!!

The website is expensive or the website sells expensive fish? This site is far from expensive... $40 flame angels... $50 female flame wrasses... sub $500 black tangs... if you are referring to items like the Bodianus they have keep in mind that species has not been offered in the US for YEARS!

Copps

Update: The fish is doing well in QT, in spite of my best efforts to kill it :o Long story...

Anyway, he handled cupramine just fine, and eats well, though hasn't taken to pellets yet.
