I just upgraded from PC to Halide lighting and a buddy of mine gave me a couple of frags. He (nor I) has no idea what they are. Any guesses?

All of these pics were taken under dual 250 10k and PC actinics..

Your first looks to be Acropora parilis. A nice pale cream variant, that may turn blue to pink at the tips.

The other is a bit too out of focus, but could be a Pocillipora. Does it have surface verrucae (bumps).

Thanks - I can't tell if the second one has bumps or not. Literally the entire thing is covered with what looks like hair. It waves in water flow....kinda hard to describe. My buddy had it low in his tank and it was almost grey. I moved it up a little in my tank and it started to turn this bluish green. I'll look up some info on the names you suggested - I appreciate the help!

If it's really hairy, then it is most probably Hydnopora, which almost resembles a sort of hair algae as it wafts in the water. The surface is more channeled appearing than a Stylo/Pocillopora.

Hydnoporas are well documented for their stinging potential. They will kill anything they touch, so be careful with placement.:D

cool - will do.

Yeah, i looked of some info on Hydnopora last night and that looks to be what this is.

I appreciate the help/advice.
