couple questions pls

fullmonti

now is the time
Is it normal for nps to be open nearly all the time for awhile, then be closed nearly all the time for awhile? This while others in the same tank are still open most the time. Also my carnations (mostly the new bigger one) will some times stand up straight, & other times will go limp & lay down, but not closed up. Are these kind of things normal or a sign of some thing?

I got a small colony of Dendro & Balano a few days ago & I'm not sure which is which. They are both pretty much the same color, one has more roundish heads & longer tentacles & stays open all the time, I think this is Dendro? The other one has more oval shaped heads shorter tentacles & only opens at night, think this is Balano? I don't have pics yet but could post some if needed.

Thanks
Jim

Hello Jim,

Well, with a pic we can ID better, but you sound right for the ID of the Dendro and Balano. My Balano comes out like clock work about 30 mins after the lights go out. My Dendro's all stay open all day and all night.

IME, some of the corals do stay open for long peroids of time a few day and then close for a few days at a time. My Chili I had a while back closed for about 1.5 weeks and then opened everynight after that for months. They may need the down time to help in the growth process, but I don't know. Maybe someone else may help out.

Love to see some pics when you get a chance.

Looks like it's going to take some pics to be sure. I'll have to bring a flash home since the one only open after lights out.

Any other opinions on the other questions?
