First is it in the tanks best quality to clean coralline algae off the glass? Second question, I have hair like green and yellow strings coming out of some small holes and grab food, they are a couple inches long, any ideas?

If you are asking if you can leave the corraline on the glass....no it doesn't harm anything.
Most likely you are seeing some kind of snail or angler filter feeder looking for food in the water column.
