couple questions

My first q is do any other mantis's have dark meral spots other than the smithii? I have had my mantis a couple of months now and have only been able to see him very sparadically but I have seen that he is emerald green with some red tips on his body and his meral spot looked black with light blue around it. It is about 1.5 to 2 inches. If indeed this is a smithii I thought they were supposed to be highly interactive what's the deal with mine? I have the tank in my bedroom and I don't have a lot of contact with it could that be the problem? Any help appreciated thanks.

my smithii isnt the most interactive unless he expects food. mine will poke his head out of his hole and come out from time to time, but when he senses my presence he darts.

where do you have your tank located? On Ron's list it says they are highly interactive what gives?
