couple questions

I just got my tank going about 3 days ago. It is a 29 gallon salt. I have about 10 gallons of water in it from another tank that had been going for about 4 months. So it will do a mini cycle for a while.

There seems to be some type of film on the surface of the water. If I move it with my finger I can cut it a little. Where my bio wheel is, there is not film only the rest of the tank because my skimmer doesn't really move the water.

What could this be and what should I do to get rid of it?


Also my tank has a lot of micro bubbles from the skimmer and bio wheel. Is there anything I can do about this to make the water more clear?

increase water movement in your tank, and make sure your skimmer is working over time

do you mean working "over time" like working hard?

I should probably get a power head to increase circulation. you think so?

Keep the skimmer cups and neck clean so your skimmer can be more efficient

get the sureflow kits and 2 maxijet 900, two of these will be all you need for your small tank

It also sounds like your tank is not surface skimming. More flow may help this

I actually just went and got a powerhead and I have it skimming the top. It seems to be working well. thanks guys.
